Day 2.- EXCURSION CITY TOUR + HALF THE WORLD. BREAKFAST.
In the morning, our guide will pick you up at your hotel to take you on a tour of the city of Quito, known as the Light of America and internationally recognized for having the largest and best-preserved historic center in Latin America. We will begin with an interesting visit to one of Quito’s markets, where we will observe flowers, fruits, typical foods, and the daily life of the people who come to shop. We will then continue to La Basílica del Voto Nacional, considered the most important example of Gothic architecture in our country. Here, we will be able to climb its towers, observe its gargoyles, and walk through its interiors, which are still under construction, according to local legend.
Next, we will head to Plaza Grande (or Independence Square), where the Government Palace (Palacio de Carondelet), the Municipal Building, and the city's Cathedral are located. After a short walk, we will arrive at the Church of La Compañía de Jesús, a jewel of Baroque architecture and an impressive example of colonial Quito art. We will then continue to the Church of San Francisco, the first church built in Quito during the 16th century.
Around the square, you will have the opportunity to taste some of the finest chocolates made from Ecuadorian fine aroma cacao. We will then head to the Panecillo Viewpoint, located at the top of a hill of the same name, 3,035 meters above sea level. The hill was once known as "Shungoloma" or "Heart Hill." Here, you will find a large aluminum replica (45 meters) of the Virgin of Quito, sculpted by the Quito artist Bernardo de Legarda, and the original is displayed in the main altar of the Church of San Francisco.
Afterwards, we will visit a museum that will explain the various effects caused by gravity and magnetism at the Equator line, and you will learn more about the cultures from the Amazon region. Finally, our guide will take you back to your hotel.
Day 3.- TRANSFER HOTEL - AIRPORT. BREAKFAST.
